The landladies Ellie & Katie along with their staff have created a warm and friendly pub with a traditional feel and traditional values. They have worked hard to turn the Dolphin into one of the safest, cleanest and most welcoming pubs around. Between them they have nearly 30 years experience in the pub and catering trade

The Dolphin Hotel dates back to 1735 when it was a coaching inn with large stables and worker’s cottages within it’s grounds. It was also a safe haven for smugglers, their tunnels can still be seen in the cellar today.

It is also recorded that the great poet Lord Byron stayed here on the 20th day of August till the 30th day of August 1806 and that the infamous actor Oliver Reed resided here too in the 1960s.

The Dolphin Hotel has also been the subject of many Paranormal Investigations from local paranormal investigating groups, but a visit from the highly acclaimed Living TV’s Derek Acorah pronounced the building to have many spirits on his filmed visit. This being so,L.I.G.H.T.(Littlehampton Investigative Ghost Hunting Team, founded by the landladies of The Dolphin Ellie & Katie) use the hotel as their base.  We also hold regular “LIVE” ghost hunts at the hotel with the public attending (tickets only). 

There is a car park at the rear of the building for our customers and in the summer a beautiful, newly renovated LARGE GARDEN. There is also a smoking area with heaters.

This venue is ideal for all sorts of celebrations, it’s a joy to see family parties and wedding receptions held there or just to try some of our famous HOME COOKED FOOD.

 Bookings can be taken for functions all year round. There is also a large function room which can also be hired for a nominal fee, this room is ideal for meetings etc.
